MISSION & VISION
From the existing statutes of CBCMSB dated 25 July 1991
“To enable the hierarchy of this Region to “exercise jointly the pastoral office by way of promoting the greater good which the Church offers mankind, especially through forms and programmes of the apostolate which are fittingly adapted to the circumstances of age”. (Bishops No. 38, 1)
- To foster a spirit of communion and co-responsibility among the Bishops of the Region.
- To enable the Bishops to act on matters of common concern and the good of the local Church.
- To pursue a common policy as far as possible in the spirit of co-operation and coordination in the exercise of their pastoral office.

Conceptual model
Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” (John 14:6) reflecting living out, knowing and celebrating God’s presence in our lives. The Church in turn identifies her works as Diakonia (Service), Kergyma (Proclamation), and Liturgia (Worship) or reflecting the Ethical, Existential, and Symbolic dimensions of the Church. Our conceptual framework can take into consideration the multi-dimensional facet of the Church’s existence and mission, and thus that of the Conference too.
Vision of Church
Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” (John 14:6). The Church in turn identifies her works as Diakonia (Service), Kergyma (Proclamation), and Liturgia (Worship) or reflecting the Ethical, Existential, and Symbolic dimensions of the Church.
We keep in mind the vision of the Church that Vatican Council II and Pope Francis invites us to become – a more merciful, missionary and People of God Church that animates and lives out synodality at various levels.
Likewise, we are reminded of the call of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conference (FABC) over the past 50 years – to live Mission through Dialogue with the Poor, Cultures, and Religions (or a triple dialogue).
The structures of the Bishops’ Conference and Secretariat is to serve this vision.
