PLENARY MEETINGS

2nd Decade

The Plenary meeting is held two times a year in any place decided upon by the Conference. The President shall call an extraordinary meeting when an urgent need arises. The Apostolic Nuncio/Delegate may be invited to meet and address the members at the Plenary Meeting.

2nd Decade

This decade saw the creation of four dioceses and elevation of two dioceses to Archdioceses. In 1972, the Diocese of Kuala Lumpur was elevated to Archdiocese, and the creation of the Diocese of Malacca-Johore and the Archdiocese of Singapore. In 1975, the Apostolic Vicariate of Jesselton was elevated to the Diocese of Kota Kinabalu. In 1976, the Apostolic Vicariate of Kuching was elevated to Archdiocese of Kuching, and the Vicariate of Miri was raised to the level of a Diocese and became a suffragan see of Kuching. In 1980, Fr Antony Selvanayagam was ordained as Auxiliary Bishop of Kuala Lumpur.
